Tree Planting at Nyangweta Forest
As part of reaffirming our commitment to the recovery and conservation of ecosystems that are intact across tea-growing landscapes and beyond, the Foundation in partnership with Eberege Tea Factory and the National Youth Council planted over 15,000 trees at Nyangweta Forest on 5th June 2021. This brings the totals to over 200,000 tree seedlings having been planted across the tea growing areas during the April-May 2021 rains.
The event also sensitized children and community members on climate change mitigation strategies that include the use of renewable sources of energy as a way of ecosystem conservation.
We continue to recover ecosystems by supporting Kenya Forest Service to grow indigenous tree seedlings across degraded public forests within tea catchments and educating our tea farmers on climate mitigation strategies that focus on renewable energy.
