Day 1 of the KTDA Foundation Free Medical Camp at Wandumbi Dispensary, Gathuthi Tea Catchment Area, made a remarkable impact—144 farmers received essential medical care, including eye screening, cancer screening, RBS tests, TB and lung checks, physiotherapy, mental health assessments, HIV testing, and general triaging. Among them were 96 women and 48 men, with a significant number (61 women and 33 men) being over 50 years old—highlighting the real healthcare needs within our tea farming community. This initiative, supported by KTDA Foundation, Gathuthi Tea Factory, the Ministry of Health–Nyeri County, Lions Eye Hospital & Vision Spring, Majani Insurance, and Britam, reinforces the importance of bringing accessible healthcare closer to the farmer. Because a healthy farmer is a productive farmer, and productivity strengthens both the tea value chain and the sustainability of farming communities. The camp was officially launched by KTDA Holdings Director Catherine Mankura and honoured by the presence of Gathuthi Tea Factory leadership—showcasing the Foundation’s strong commitment to its Health Pillar, one of the core pillars driving sustainable tea communities. 🌱 KTDA Foundation: Putting Farmers First.
