FROM TEA TO TREES: KTDA & THE PRESIDENT, WILLIAM RUTO LAUNCH THE MAU FOREST RESTORATION WITH 100,000 SEEDLINGS!🌱

The KTDA Group, through the commitment of the KTDA Foundation’s core pillar of Environmental Conservation and Sustainability, and with active participation from its Region 5 factories, was honored to join the national launch of the landmark Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihoods Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP) earlier this week. Demonstrating a tangible investment in Kenya’s crucial natural resources, we proudly contributed 100,000 indigenous tree seedlings to support this vital, 10-year collaborative programme to restore the Mau Forest Complex, which is Kenya’s largest water tower. A dedicated KTDA team had the distinct privilege of joining His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto at the official ceremony, where we collectively planted 5,000 seedlings, reinforcing the “whole-of-society” approach to conservation. This critical ecosystem, which spans 403,000 hectares and is the source of 12 major rivers , is the focus of the MFC-ICLIP, which aims to rehabilitate 33,138 hectares of degraded land and enhance community livelihoods through nature-positive enterprises. Our partnership is a strategic move to ensure water security and agricultural resilience for the tea sector and the nation, aligning perfectly with the Presidential Directive to grow 15 billion trees by 2032.
