Today, October 10, 2025, on Mazingira Day 🗓️, the KTDA Foundation and Njunu Tea Factory came together for a community tree planting exercise that is a living testament to our core pillar: Environmental Conservation and Sustainability. In a dedicated effort to protect our critical tea-growing ecosystem in Murang’a County, we successfully planted 500 tree seedlings 🌱 at two vital locations: Thithi Falls 🏞️ and Kamunyaka Primary School 🏫 within the Njunu Tea Catchment area. This massive undertaking featured a diverse mix of trees, including indigenous species like Muiri, Mukoe, and Mukinduri, as well as Bamboo, Ornamental, and valuable Avocado 🥑 tree seedlings, ensuring maximum ecological benefit and biodiversity.
Every tree planted today is a direct, measurable investment in a healthier planet and a more sustainable tea sector. This exercise represents carbon sequestration at its best 💨, actively reducing the KTDA’s overall carbon footprint. By replenishing forest cover and protecting vital water catchments, we are ensuring the air we breathe is safe and fresh, and securing the long-term resilience of our tea regions. Furthermore, the inclusion of fruit trees enriches the community and directly aligns with the KTDA’s ‘Farmer First’ mantra 👨🌾—by protecting the environment, we guarantee the future success and well-being of our smallholder tea farmers who depend on this land.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Njunu Tea Factory for their invaluable collaboration and commitment. Their partnership was foundational to the success of this monumental task, underscoring the shared responsibility we hold for the environment and the community. This Mazingira Day serves as a powerful reminder: when we work together, we fulfill our environmental duties, support our farmers, and secure a greener future for all. Let’s Plant a Tree, Protect Our Tea! 🌿
