What a privilege it was to be present and represent the KTDA Foundation at the official closure meeting for the GIZ-GCF Climate Friendly Cooking in Kenya project on September 18th, 2025. This event marked the successful completion of a collaboration that leveraged international climate finance to drive grassroots change. As the dedicated implementing partner, the Foundation is incredibly proud to celebrate this achievement alongside GIZ, affirming our capacity to deliver large-scale, transformative projects within the energy sector.
The project’s success is a testament to its direct and measurable impact across multiple Sustainable Development Goals. By championing the adoption of Improved Cookstoves (ICS), the initiative achieved estimated reductions of several mega tonnes of {CO}_2 equivalent, making a significant contribution to Kenya’s national climate targets. Beyond the environment, the initiative created profound social benefits, drastically reducing Indoor Air Pollution and translating to improved respiratory health, particularly for women and children in rural communities.
This closure represents a massive milestone, highlighting how the KTDA Foundation is helping families achieve economic empowerment through significant savings on cooking fuel. We are grateful for the support of GIZ and GCF, and look forward to building on the successful market foundation established to ensure that clean, efficient cooking solutions continue to enrich the lives and livelihoods of Kenyan communities for years to come.
