KTDA Foundation on 21st-24th February 2023 handed over a total of KES 5.5 million in grants to 45 farmer groups across four factories to initiate and scale up their businesses. The groups are drawn from Chelal, Nyamache, Gianchore and Kobel Tea Factories.
The grants are part of the Holistic Social and Women Economic Empowerment Program which targets to improve the economic welfare of at least 1 million smallholder tea farmers, families and tea pickers. This project is aimed to increase financial literacy and impact entrepreneurship skills that enable households to engage in other economic activities.
