MCFEA Energy Project

Status: Completed

Period: September 2020 – December 2021

The project aimed to provide alternative means to power cooking, lighting and basic farm production by turning farm waste into a clean and affordable energy resource, Biogas. Meanwhile, the by-product (referred to as slurry) can provide organic farm manure, which can improve soil fertility by increasing nutrient and water retention.

Impact

  • Construction of the biogas system in all the four selected beneficiaries is complete
  • 8 farmers are now using the biogas for various areas such as cooking, lighting, chaff cutter, chicken hatchery
  • The project sites are currently being used as centers of excellence by field extension workers to educate other farmers within the catchments.
