HEE Graduation at Weru Tea Factory

A total of 118 farmers graduated from a 6-month training program under the Holistic Economic Empowerment Programme at Weru Tea Factory on 17th February 2022. The farmers also received avocado tree seedlings from the factory. This is part of the effort towards encouraging smallholder tea farmers to diversify to complimentary agribusiness ventures.

The avocados, once mature, will buffer climate change impact and provide additional income to households. The event was also graced by the County Director for Tharaka Nithi.
