KTDA Foundation, KTDA Management Services and Tegat Tea Factory today held a graduation ceremony for 268 farmers who had completed training in the Holistic Economic Empowerment (HEE) program.
The farmers completed the HEE programme which included the following courses;
1. Social Dynamics
2. Financial Literacy
3. Entrepreneurship
This has been made possible by funding from KTDA MS, 69 Tea Factories and IDH Sustainable business.
The event was also an opportunity for the Tegat Tea Factory extension services to educate farmers on good tea husbandry practices and climate smart agriculture practices. Each graduant also recieved 4 Hass avocado seedlings to supplement their tea income, as the demand for avocados rises both in the local and export markets. The fruit is also highly nutritious and will be of benefit to the health of our farmers.
