Diversification of livelihoods while promoting environmental sustainability is one of the most effective strategies for coping with economic, social and environmental shocks and could be instrumental in poverty reduction. Livelihood diversification tends to move away from traditional farming approaches to other business systems that offer flexibility and well-being to livelihoods by widening the subsistence options in order to complement tea incomes.
